Chart notes
BERNIE LOMAX shared the lead inside LAKE MILLS from the beginning, floated out leaving the bend, gradually drifted out upper stretch, held a straight path inside the final furlong, moved clear and kept SEMINOLE BEACH at bay. SEMINOLE BEACH void of speed, though urged along, had the rail on the turn, swung out entering the lane, gradually angled out to gain a clear path, split rivals just inside the sixteenth marker to take over second, closed well but came up short. SOMNUS moved to the outside early on, was just off the rail on the bend, lost ground fanning widest for the drive, angled out as the two leaders came out upper stretch and found best stride too late. SWISS GUARD raced in the second flight on the backstretch, gained a striking position along the rail on the turn, had every chance through the stretch but finished evenly. LAKE MILLS was sent to dispute the pace from outside, forced out gradually upper stretch then slowly wore down inside the last eighth.
