Chart notes
MUCINO sent to assume command leaving the start, set the pace off of the rail into the first turn, carved out modest fractions while well rated along the backstretch, held a narrow lead while vying between runners into the far turn, dug in into the stretch and battled between rivals nearing the furlong marker, determinedly kept to task into the final sixteenth and held foes at bay late to prevail. FREEPORT JOE away in good order, ceded the early lead to MUCINO and stalked outside of that runner into the first turn, prompted the modest pace into the backstretch, vied for the lead three wide into the second turn, battled into upper stretch and lost a bit of ground at the furlong marker, re-rallied past mid-stretch and battled gamely into the final sixteenth, could not get by the determined winner late and held safely at the finish for second. KEEP MOVIN' ON was a step slow leaving the start, recovered and settled off of the early pace while not far back, saved ground into the first turn, maintained an inside path into the backstretch and was well placed nearing the half-mile marker, saved all of the ground into the far turn, vied for the lead nearing the quarter marker, battled into upper stretch and vied for the lead at the eighth pole, was outkicked in the final sixteenth and held clearly for third. ENOS SLAUGHTER settled while never far back, tracked the early pace four wide into the first turn, maintained an outside path into the backstretch and was well placed nearing the half-mile marker, chased four wide into the second turn, could not keep pace into the stretch and tired. This race was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
