HAPPY DOES was not asked for speed from the break, was last into the first turn and stayed three to four wide through that turn and down the backstretch, advanced on the leaders to the half, then, made a bid for the lead entering the far turn, emerged with the lead at the top of the stretch, took on a challenge from HERECOMEGEORGIEBOY, kept ahead of that foe under steady handling and intermittent urging and just held on at the wire. HERECOMEGEORGIEBOY was allowed to settle after the break, was unhurried through the first turn and was last heading on to the backstretch, raced five wide and followed HAPPY DOES as that one made a bid for the lead on the far turn, came five wide into the stretch, chased that rival the length of the stretch under strong handling but could not get by. SEA OF LIBERTY got caught four wide into the first turn, advanced down the backstretch then put some pressure on the leader EFFECTIVE GIG from the half mile marker, was then joined by HAPPY DOES at the five-sixteenths pole, went into a drive but could not go on with that foe in the stretch, kept to task and held third. POUR ON THE COLE came away well from the outside post then raced just behind EFFECTIVE GIG through the first turn and kept within a striking position down the backstretch, became boxed in through the whole of the far turn, got clear in the stretch but then lacked a rally, finished evenly. BIG FLAME was pushed on a bit from the break, and raced close up on the rail through the first turn, was pushed to get with the leaders down the backstretch and got close heading into the turn but then got stuck behind horses, went into a drive from the five-sixteenths but tired in the stretch, could not improve and was not persevered with in the final sixteenth. SUNNY SPOT broke well and was between horses early, was stuck behind a wall of horses down the backstretch and could not find a way through, went four wide through the far turn and came five wide into the stretch but could not summon a rally. EFFECTIVE GIG was hustled to the front from the break and seized the early lead going into the first bend, slowed the pace and maintained a length ahead the field to the half then was pressed to quicken by SEA OF LIBERTY at that point, then also joined by HAPPY DOES struggled to keep up at the faster pace, dropped out before the quarter pole and tired in the stretch. GALLANT WARREN was pushed to get forward position and was in the first flight of horses through the clubhouse turn, raced mid-pack down the backstretch then started to drop back when the pace quickened at the half mile marker, lost contact with the field heading into the turn and was not a factor from that point on.
