Chart notes
HALONE well placed along the inside, launched a rail bid with three furlongs remaining, took over shortly after and inched ahead around the far turn, put NAFISA away entering the stretch, asked right handed in upper stretch, then widened under a flagging from the crop and was in hand nearing the wire. SCARLET AVENUE raced up close in the two path, applied pressure at the midway point, fought three deep at the three-eighths pole, chased the new leader past the five-sixteenths pole, stayed off the rail to the stretch, moved inward in the lane and kept on to edge NAFISA for second. NAFISA stepped to the front and controlled the pace on the inside, took pressure from SCARLET AVENUE at the half-mile pole, clung to a short lead between rivals at the three-eighths marker, relinquished the lead shortly after, kept up with HALONE around the far turn, then yielded to that rival entering the lane, churned on down the stretch and approaching the finish. JUSTIVAR tracked outside a rival into the first turn then moved over to the three path, came under a ride in the four path on the second bend and faded out of contention. MATTERS trailed off the rail early on, chased four wide leaving the backstretch, angled over to the rail and saved ground to the stretch but came up empty in the drive.
