Chart notes
WINSOME LOVE easily made the lead after the break and slowed the pace to the half-mile pole then quickened and pulled away with EMPRESS LORRAYNE to separate from the rest, dueled with that rival through the turn and for the length of the stretch, engaged in some mutual bumping in the final sixteenth, put a head in front near the wire and prevailed. EMPRESS LORRAYNE hopped at the start then was taken in hand and pulled hard against the rider through the early stages, followed WINSOME LOVE through the first turn and tracked just behind that foe through the early stages, was let loose to challenge that rival and pulled clear of the rest after passing the half mile marker, dueled two wide through the turn and into the stretch, drifted in some in the late stages and made mutual contact and came up short at the finish. THIRSTY NIC went three wide into the first turn and tracked the pacesetters down the backstretch, could not keep pace when those two separated from the rest of the field, but tried to mount a rally from the three furlong pole, finished willingly with some gradual late gain but was not quite good enough to threaten. STAY WICKED lacked speed from the start and trailed the field through the first turn but not far off the pace, advanced up the rail to be closer to the pace down the backstretch, came under a ride from the three furlong marker, came into the stretch three wide with clear run but did not rally. GIDDY UP BUTTERCUP came away well and was contesting for the lead heading into the first turn, raced between horse down the backstretch just off the leader, struggled to keep up as the pace quickened passing the half-mile pole and hand little to offer for the stretch run. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN INVOLVING WINSOME LOVE AND EMPRESS LORRAYNE. THE STEWARDS RULED THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
