Chart notes
PONDERGATING away in good order, engaged with SMILIN RUBY in the early stages and disputed the solid pace inside of that rival heading to the half-mile marker, took back and stalked the pace outside of runners entering the turn, was well placed nearing the quarter marker, roused three wide into upper stretch, vied for the lead nearing the furlong marker then took command past mid-stretch, kept to task into the final sixteenth, drifted out a bit into deep stretch and held in a drive at the finish. PATSY MONTANA broke in a bit at the start and crowded an inner rival, settled off of the solid early pace, raced outside of foes into the turn, gained ground three to four wide at the quarter pole, loomed while widest into the stretch, closed into the final sixteenth while on the left lead, could not get by the winner in deep stretch and just held for second on the wire. PINEAPPLE CRUISE tracked the solid early pace from the inside, was shuffled back a bit at the three-eighths and saved ground into the turn, tipped two wide into upper stretch, navigated traffic heading to the furlong grounds, dove to the inside nearing the sixteenth-marker, finished well late and just missed for second on the wire. SMILIN RUBY broke alertly, vied for the early lead outside of rivals, disputed the solid pace with PONDERGATING heading to the half-mile marker, took command into the turn and carved out quick fractions nearing the quarter pole, led into the stretch, was overtaken past the furlong marker and yielded in the final sixteenth. FLY SOUTH raced close up to the solid early pace, tracked between runners heading to the half-mile marker, angled to the fence entering the turn, saved ground along the bend and was well placed nearing the quarter marker, saved ground to the top of the lane, was outkicked at mid-stretch and did not offer a late response. SMOOVE AS SILK was crowded by an outer rival at the start and broke a bit slowly, settled off of the solid early pace while never far back back, tracked two wide and between runners into the turn, got caught a bit in tight into upper stretch, ran evenly to the furlong marker and could not muster the needed late response.
