Chart notes
RUNKERRY crowded a bit at the start, was hustled in the early stages and disputed the solid pace from the outside heading to the half-mile marker, contested quick fractions into the turn and pressed the pace outside of LESSONS OF AUTISM nearing the quarter marker, battled that rival while on even terms into the stretch, took a narrow lead into the final furlong, met the bid of MAJOR TOM then lost the lead at the sixteenth-marker, came again while drifting in deep stretch and got up at the wire for a determined win. MAJOR TOM forwardly placed away from the start, settled off of the quick early pace and saved ground into the turn, got caught a bit in tight and waited for racing room at the quarter marker, angled three to four wide into upper stretch and loomed at the eighth pole, vied for the lead past mid-stretch, took a narrow lead while dueling into the final sixteenth, was crowded by the drifting RUNKERRY in deep stretch and just missed for the win, while besting the rest. LESSONS OF AUTISM broke in at the start and crowded inner rivals, sped to the early lead then was engaged by RUNKERRY and disputed the pace inside of that rival heading to the half-mile marker, contested solid fractions with RUNKERRY along the turn, dueled while on even terms into the stretch, could not match strides with the top pair into the final furlong, yielded in the late stages and just held for third. MAN OVERBOARD hopped at the start and was away from the gate a bit slowly, allowed to settle in the early stages, saved ground into the turn, angled three to four wide at the quarter marker, made a steady gain to mid-stretch, could not find more into the final sixteenth, was outkicked late and just missed for third. LOVE CANDY away in good order, settled off of the solid early pace, raced three wide into the turn, shifted to the two path at the quarter marker and trailed into upper stretch, was not able to threaten the leaders in the stretch drive and finished evenly. GONNA GETCHA GOOD was squeezed a bit at the start and broke a step slowly, recovered to track the solid early pace outside of rivals, was well placed approaching the turn, tracked the dueling leaders three wide nearing the quarter marker, outkicked into the stretch, could not muster a late response and tired in the final furlong. THE STEWARDS CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN INVOLVING RUNKERRY AND MAJOR TOM. IN A UNANIMOUS DECISION, THE STEWARDS RULED THAT RUNKERRY CAME OUT IN DEEP STRETCH AND THIS ACTION COST MAJOR TOM THE OPPORTUNITY OF A BETTER PLACING. RUNKERRY WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM FIRST AND PLACED SECOND. THERE WAS ALSO AN OBJECTION LODGED BY THE RIDER OF MAJOR TOM AGAINST THE RIDER OF RUNKERRY FOR INTERFERENCE IN DEEP STRETCH.
