Chart notes
CRAFTY OAKS seized control from the onset loose up front down the back straight, moved strongly rattling on through the turn, was asked for more at the eighth pole, responded when urged and held on comfortably for the front running score. CEFALO was situated three deep in mid-pack, made little gain on the bend outside runners, angled to the five path dueling for a minor share straightening out for home, was full of run late in the final furlong and bested the rest for the secondary share at the wire. AMERICAN GAMBLE tracked inside runners down the backstretch, mildly crept up the fence around the turn, chased the winner to no avail in the two path at the top of the lane, evened out at the furlong pole and gave way in deep stretch for the runners up share. SWEET SERENADE travelled between horses in midfield along the backside, dropped back to co-trail on the outside at the half, tried to mount a rally but was pushed out four wide with five sixteenths to go, angled out widest in the seven path at the top of the lane and could only manage to pass an inside weary foe in deep stretch. ROYAL BLUSH was unhurried settling at the back of the pack on the fence, took closer order to the field co-trailing inside at the half, shifted three wide in midturn offering a brief rally, swung out to the six path but had little for the finish and weakened in the final furlong.
