FIFTY CINCO broke well and assumed the lead by default, was left to set moderate fractions with SMILE BABY SMILE stalking to the outside and HANDSOME HARRY to the inside, held sway through the far turn and had plenty left when set down for the stretch run and held clear to the wire. SMILE BABY SMILE came away in good order and stalked FIFTY CINCO three wide through the first turn and down the backstretch, remained close when the pace quickened on the far turn, continued to chase that rival gamely down the stretch but could not get there. UPSTART YANKEE broke well but was caught three wide into the first turn, backed out of a developing speed duel and tracked the leading trio, launched a three wide bid under a drive from the three furlong pole, improved but was not a serious threat. RICH GOLD was five wide heading into the first turn then was taken back off the pace, raced between horses with the trio at the back of the pack early on, then became boxed in through the far turn and into the stretch, found some running room in mid-stretch but did not have the needed response. BIG SPIN was last away and well behind the field before the first turn, advanced down the backstretch to regain contact but still raced at the rear of the field, launched a wide bid on the far turn after passing the three furlong marker, loomed five wide into the stretch but flattened out. HANDSOME HARRY raced close up while saving ground through the first half-mile, was unable to keep up and dropped to last on the turn, was kept to task but could not improve down the stretch. This race was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
