CHECKERED FLAG allowed to settle in the early going while never far back, was well placed into the turn and saved ground along the bend, got caught a bit in tight and waited for racing room nearing the quarter pole, found room into upper stretch and chased to the furlong grounds, responded to firm handling into the final sixteenth, surged in deep stretch and got up in the final strides for a determined win. ESCAPE PLAN forwardly placed leaving the start, got caught in tight in the opening sixteenth of a mile, was shuffled back approaching the five furlong marker, settled off of the solid early pace while never far back, tracked two to three wide and between rivals nearing the quarter marker, angled four wide into upper stretch and ran evenly to the furlong marker, closed fast into the final sixteenth, vied for the lead in deep stretch and just missed for the win, while getting up in time for the place honors. EL MAGA hustled leaving the start, was prominent in the early stages and attended to the solid pace while outside of DORIS AVENUE, disputed the pace two wide and between runners into the turn, took a narrow lead at the quarter pole and dug in into upper stretch, kept foes at bay nearing the furlong marker and led into the final sixteenth, all out in deep stretch, was nailed for the win and place in the final yards and held safely at the wire for the show in a game effort. SWIFT STEPHAN chased the solid early pace from between runners, stalked three wide and between rivals approaching the turn, ran in pursuit three wide nearing the quarter marker, battled for the lead into upper stretch, fought on past mid-stretch, grudgingly gave way in the final sixteenth and was outkicked in deep stretch. TIZ'S HARBOR forwardly placed early on, took back and settled off of the solid pace heading to the half-mile marker, went two wide into the turn and trailed at the quarter pole, ran evenly to mid-stretch, could not muster the needed late response and passed tiring foes late. LAST CALL VRON chased the solid pace while widest in the early stages, ran in pursuit four to five wide into the turn, loomed at the quarter pole, ran in pursuit five wide into the stretch, was outrun into the final sixteenth and weakened in deep stretch. PRINCE OF DEL MAR raced close up to the solid early pace, stalked four deep nearing the half-mile marker, was well placed approaching the turn, lost ground four then three wide nearing the quarter marker, was outrun into upper stretch and gave way in the final furlong. BIG CROWD hopped at the start and was away from the gate a step slowly, allowed to settle in the early stages, saved ground into the turn, inched closer at the quarter marker, saved all of the ground to the top of the stretch and failed to threaten in the late stages. DORIS AVENUE sent leaving an alert beginning, assumed early command then was engaged by EL MAGA and disputed the solid pace inside of that rival heading to the half-mile marker, dueled into the turn and contested the pace to the quarter marker, lost ground into upper stretch and tired in the drive.
