Chart notes
HANLAN broke in at the start, was loose up top under a snug hold down the backside, rolled along with no competition in sight around the turn and cruised home for the dominant front running score. RED IN FRONT broke out on the start, tracked the lone speed inside down the backstretch, chased the pacesetter around the turn making little headway, angled to the three path for the stretch run but just could not get to the overpowering winner in the stretch and comfortably held to best the rest for the secondary share at the wire. GLORIOUS REVENGE watched the leader while outside a rival in the backstretch, travelled three wide around the bend tracking the lead two making little gain, swung out to the five path for the drive, finished up willingly down the lane and ended up a distant but clear third at the finish line. DEMBA stumbled and was bumped outside on the break, recouped to sit in midfield outside down the backstretch, was nudged on three wide making a mild run outside foes in the turn, angled out widest in the six path for the stretch running and finished up one paced to the wire for a minor role in the end. CLIVE CROSS travelled four deep outside relegated to last with a half mile to run, picked up a rival outside in midturn, shifted to the three path for the drive and manage to pass another weary foe in the final furlong. SMARTER STILL broke slow on the rail to trail at the start, was very rank fighting the rider down the backside, had to be checked a couple of times behind runners, settled down on the fence in mid-pack into the turn, was hard ridden trying to keep up to others inside around the bend and wilted by mid-stretch. CHIEF LIONHART settled in the last group with runners on either side, made little impact being passed on the turn to be at the rear turning for home and had nothing to offer in the stretch running.
