Chart notes
TODAY broke in on the start, prompted the issue four deep on the outside down the backside, took closer order outside just off the frontrunner into the turn, applied pressure outside for the front end in midturn, pulled away while going three wide straightening out for home to have command comfortably up top at the furlong marker and was kept to the task late to hold safe for the win when crossing the wire. STAR SCHOLAR was outpaced in the beginning to be at the rear on the start, was roused to get better forward position into the backstretch, settled in midfield on the rail by the half, commenced a run on the fence at the three eighths pole to be in the hunt three wide turning for home and finished up mildly down the stretch chasing the winner in vain to the finish line. BENLION was checked mildly at the start between horses, co-trailed on the inside at the half, had little to offer seeing the field around the turn but was saving ground, found another gear in the two path bursting between foes at the sixteenth pole and won the duel for the show award inside in the final few strides before the line. SECRET GIZMO co-trailed on the outside at the half, offered a brief rally three wide at the three eighths marker making a move outside, angled out widest in the six path for the drive to the wire and finished up willingly but lost the show battle outside in deep stretch. CANADIAN DADDY veered out on the start, was under a tight hold in the two path in the mix up top in the early going, sat alone tracking the contesting duo around the turn to be in range for a share four wide at the top of the lane but needed more in the late stages and tired between horses in the final sixteenth of a mile. ONELLA had a narrow lead on the r ail down the backside, maintained a slim advantage inside into the turn, had company on her outside dueling for the front midway around the bend, could not continue on in upper stretch and steadily retreated inside foes down the lane. SMART ALMASTY was bumped outside on the break, recouped to press between rivals in the three path down the back straight, backed away through the field in the two path in midturn and emptied out three wide in upper stretch.
