JOURNALISM stalked in the three path around the clubhouse turn, stayed off the rail to the far turn, took aim four wide turning for home, latched onto GETAWAY CAR at the quarter pole, took over at the three-sixteenths marker, disposed of GETAWAY CAR entering the final furlong and won going away. GETAWAY CAR took control early and led two wide through the clubhouse turn, dictated the pace up the backstretch, took pressure from GAMING at the seven-sixteenths pole, turned that rival away late on the bend, challenged by JOURNALISM at the top of the lane, relinquished the lead at the three-sixteenths pole, could not keep up with the winner into the final furlong and stayed on to secure second. GAMING rated along the inside, launched a rail bid entering the far turn, could not sustain the challenge at the five-sixteenths pole, weakened in the drive but finished a clear third. RANK broke a step slow, coaxed from the gate then reserved at the back in the two path, found the rail on the far turn and faded. MELLENCAMP was taken back from between rivals early, chased four then three wide around the first turn, exited the backstretch in the four path, angled down to the two path around that bend and tired in the lane.
