Chart notes
J B STRIKES BACK vied between rivals into the first turn then dueled outside ASHCROFT for early command, inched ahead on the backstretch, dueled with TARANTINO past the three-eighths pole, dug in under right handed urging in the final furlong and inched clear late. TARANTINO sent from the gate and fought three deep into the clubhouse turn, took a stalking position around the bend, joined the top pair again from outside on the backstretch, headed J B STRIKES BACK with three furlongs remaining, battled down the lane but lacked the needed late kick to get by the winner. AMERICAN ADMIRAL stalked the leaders from a bit off the rail early, chased between rivals on the far turn, angled out approaching the stretch, finished well outside the top pair but missed second. EXPRESS TRAIN stalked two to three wide around the first turn, asked in the three path on the second bend but failed to summon the needed response in the final furlong. ASHCROFT fought inside a pair of rivals then dueled with J B STRIKES BACK, lost touch with that rival at the half-mile pole, ridden along while saving ground next through the far turn, remained close into the furlong grounds but weakened in the late stages. KATONAH chased in the four path early, remained wide to the stretch and lacked a rally. GOLDENEYE trailed four then three wide on the first turn, raced outside a rival into the far turn, spun three wide into the lane and was never a factor. LAMMAS (GB) settled two to three wide off the fence, saved ground at the back on the far turn and had little left for the stretch run.
