DURAN vied for the lead from inside then cleared on the clubhouse turn, controlled the pace up the backstretch, coaxed along when feeling some pressure from BE PUNCTUAL on the far turn, cleared again past the five-sixteenths pole, drew away and tapped with the right hand in upper stretch, then padded the margin under steady handling through the final furlong. PETESOLDFASHIONED stalked two wide into the first turn then found the rail, came under a ride on the far turn, cornered nicely into the lane and passed BE PUNCTUAL for second. BE PUNCTUAL dueled into the first turn then tossed his head and drifted out a bit early on the bend, was closest in pursuit up the backstretch, put in a mild bid from outside on the far turn but could not sustain the challenge past the five-sixteenths pole, chased after the winner in the two path into the lane and flattened to third. DEVILNTHEBLUEGRAS pulled along the rail on the first turn, chased two wide around the far turn, moved out in the stretch and failed to threaten. LIGHT THE BEAM tracked four deep into the first turn, got floated out a bit early on the bend, then moved into the three path racing outside rivals at the back, navigated the far turn three to four wide and lacked a rally. THRUST went three wide into the first turn, got floated out a bit by BE PUNCTUAL early on the bend then came back to the three path, stayed off the rail to the stretch and weakened. SIPPIN WHISKEY settled in two path then between rivals, trailed up the backstretch under coaxing, came under a ride four wide on the far turn and had little left for the stretch run.
