Chart notes
BARNES dueled from outside, inched ahead at the five-sixteenths pole, shook free late on the turn under urging, asked right handed with a furlong remaining and padded the winning margin under steady handling through deep stretch. ROMANESQUE stalked the top pair up the backstretch, followed along the rail on the turn before shifting to the two path at the quarter pole, went to split foes at the top of the lane but got put in a bit tight, managed to get through and outkicked BULLARD for the place honors. BULLARD stalked the dueling leaders outside ROMANESQUE to the turn, chased four then three wide around the bend, could not summon the needed response in upper stretch and lost second. SMOOTH CRUISEIN broke a step slow, tracked widest up the backstretch, went five then four wide around the turn and could not rally. MCKINZIE STREET away quickest from inside, dueled inside BARNES holding a narrow advantage to the turn, lost command at the five-sixteenths marker, yielded could not go on with BARNES past the quarter pole and gave way in the stretch.
