Chart notes
WHISKEY NOT WINE was a step slow away from the start, allowed to settle and saved ground into the first turn, well placed into the backstretch run, saved all of the ground to the second turn, waited a bit for racing room nearing the quarter marker, found room along the rail into upper stretch, bid and vied for the lead at the furlong marker, took command past mid-stretch, kept to task into the final sixteenth and drew clear under hand urging late. HEIR TO GREATNESS allowed to settle in the early stages, saved ground into the first turn, was unhurried through the backstretch, saved all of the ground to the far turn, angled four wide into upper stretch, rallied and loomed nearing the furlong pole, could not match strides with the winner into the final sixteenth and held well late for second. RODEO CHAMP forwardly placed early on, took back and settled two wide into the first turn, tracked the decent pace between rivals into the backstretch, chased two then three wide into the far turn, angled out into upper stretch and ran evenly to the furlong marker, closed in the final sixteenth and got up in time to secure the show honors. HOLD YOUR APPLAUSE vied for the early lead from the inside, contested the decent pace with TURQUOISE BLUE into the backstretch run, disputed the pace with that rival to the second turn, shook free into upper stretch, was overtaken by the winner into the final furlong, yielded in the final sixteenth and was outfinished for the minor awards. KENTUCKY DAWN raced close up to the decent early pace, well placed into the backstretch run, chased three wide to the quarter pole, could not keep pace into the drive and weakened late. MALIBU S S unhurried in the early going, trailed through the backstretch run, passed tiring rivals in the stretch but was not a factor in the late stages. RED MOUNTAIN allowed to settle in the early stages, raced three wide into the first turn, never far back through the backstretch run, chased four wide into the far turn and failed to threaten in the stretch drive. TURQUOISE BLUE prominent early, contested the pace outside of HOLD YOUR APPLAUSE into the first turn, disputed decent fractions with that rival into the backstretch run, pressed the pace to the far turn, lost position into upper stretch and faded in the lane.
