Chart notes
DA SMOKE broke well and contested the early pace while holding the rail, was always traveling well then was asked to go on after passing the quarter pole, responded, then drew away under steady handling and intermittent urging. MAKIN MY FORTUNE broke well then vied between horses through the early stages, dropped off the pace after passing the half-mile pole, continued to chase the leading pair into the stretch, made a brief run at DA SMOKE at the furlong pole but was no match, held third well clear of the next horse. SAND PAYNTER ducked into the gap at the start then was slow to get going and was far behind through the early stages, was kept in a drive throughout and rode the rail into the stretch and rallied into third. BOTTLE CAPS got bumped after the break then tracked five wide down the backstretch, angled in towards the rail to save some ground through the turn then tipped back out to the five path for the stretch run, finished well under steady handling and finished with some interest while never a serious threat. FREEDOM EMPIRE tucked in just behind the pace and content to stalk down the backstretch, came four wide into the stretch and was set down at the three-sixteenths but was outfinished. SLEW O' MISCHIEF ducked out after the start and bumped with BOTTLE CAPS just after the start, then rushed to contend for the early lead racing three wide, loomed at the top of the stretch then tired.
