Chart notes
COASTAL FOG broke well then contested the early pace from the inside with a trio of challengers to the outside, drifted out a couple of paths on the turn leaving the rail open for THIRSTY THURSDAY, lost ground and position, then came back on with a rally down the stretch and was just up in time. THIRSTY THURSDAY tracked the pace duel on the rail, shook off the nearest pursuer exiting the turn spinning into the stretch, finished well but lost the bob at the wire. SHARP WARNING settled mid-pack through the early stages then advanced under a steady drive through the turn, saved some ground with a two path run through the turn, finished well still under steady handling and gained third. MR. SHORTY came sideways out of the gate and bumped with MIRROR IMAGE, vied four deep for the early lead, made a bid for the lead near the quarter pole then was floated out five wide into the stretch, ran on well but could not find the winning kick when needed. SCRATCHY APACHE broke outward then hustled to the front, was between horses in the early pace scramble then dropped out approaching the quarter pole and finished evenly.. ROCKET RIBBON shied from an inside foe after the start, then contested pace three deep as four contested the early pace, gave way at the quarter pole and was not a factor in the late stages. MY DAD IS THIRSTY got squeezed after the break then dropped far back early then made a mild late run four wide into the stretch and passed a few stragglers in the late stages. MIRROR IMAGE took a light bump from MR. SHORTY after the break then was unable to keep pace early, came under a ride before the turn, went four to five wide, came under pressure at the top of the stretch and finished evenly. CONTINENTAL UNION broke a step slow and steadied slightly when ROCKET RIBBON came over after the start, lacked any early initiative, fell behind the field, raced one-paced throughout and was never a threat. SHARK HARBOR was six wide down the backstretch then went four wide through the turn, got to mid-pack at the head of the stretch but could not sustain the bid and faltered in the stretch.
