Chart notes
DISTANT FLEET fought with GREY AREA briefly then cleared near the nine-sixteenths pole, showed the way along the inside through the turn, then drew away under left handed urging. JAMES J. BRADDOCK raced in range under coaxing, traveled along the fence then a bit off the rail into the lane, finished determinedly down the lane but had to settle for second best. EL ONDEADO chased four deep into the turn, angled to the two path then steered back out leaving the bend and got up for third. GREY AREA sent from the gate, was outsprinted by DISTANT FLEET early, chased three deep into the turn, took turn three then four wide, flattened in the late stages and lost third. SIR TOM chased outside a rival then ran up between foes and checked off the heels off the leader into the turn, took aim two then three wide on the turn and weakened in the late stages. JOHNNY WHISPERS lacked early speed, saved ground trailing the field and was never a factor.
