Chart notes
BLUE LIGHT broke well then settled three wide with the tracking group, launched a bid from the five-sixteenths but was not making much progress on the turn, came four wide into the clear then finished best under a strong hand ride to prevail over a game rival inside. RED DIRT RICH tracked behind the two pacesetters and content with that position until late on the turn, launched a bid from the quarter pole, battled an outside rival to the wire while well clear of the next horse but came up short. OPTIMAL COURAGE pressed BANDERA AZTECA from the outside, mounted a challenge from the quarter pole and battled gamely down the stretch under steady urging but was unable to match the top pair in the final yards while saving third. HAILSTORM settled at the rear through the early stages, started to run on from the middle of the turn, came into the stretch still last then found best stride a little too late. THIRD STREET broke with the pack but was unable to keep up in the early stages, dropped to the rear of the field and had to be coaxed along to maintain contact, responded mildly when put under pressure from the quarter pole, finished with some energy but was never a serious threat. BANDERA AZTECA showed good speed from the inside and took a narrow lead early, with OPTIMAL COURAGE a constant shadow, took the field to the top of the stretch, dug in when set upon by a host of challengers but gave way in the final furlong. NORTHVALE ROAD raced between horses in the second flight a few lengths behind the leaders, held position through the turn then had nothing to offer in the stretch. I GOT NO MUNNY was off poorly then advanced up the rail down the backstretch, came under heavy pressure from the five-sixteenths pole, remained a factor for a bit then wilted late and was passed by the field in the late stages.
