Chart notes
MIDEVIL MAYHEM bobbled a bit at the start but was away in good order, was forwardly placed to the first turn, drifted and carried out a rival along that bend, assumed command into the backstretch then set a pressured pace into the far turn, battled SMOKE STACK into the lane, shook free of that foe then met the bid of ANGELA'S ANGEL nearing the final sixteenth, dug in in deep stretch and lasted for a determined win. ANGELA'S ANGEL settled just off of the early pace, went three wide to the first turn, unhurried while never far back through the backstretch, chased to the second turn then loomed three to four wide at the top of the lane, vied for the lead inside of the eighth pole, stubbornly battled the winner to the final sixteenth, was held at bay in deep stretch and held clearly at the wire for the place. SPEND AGAIN settled just off of the early pace, tracked between rivals into the backstretch, was well placed nearing the half-mile marker, chased two to three wide to the second turn, swung four wide into upper stretch and closed well into the final furlong, was outfinished in the final sixteenth and held safely for the show. DESERT PUNK tracked the early pace from between rivals, took back and saved ground into the backstretch, ran in pursuit to the second turn, angled five wide at the quarter marker, bid into the stretch then was outkicked in the late stages. COPPER STATE allowed to settle early, traveled widest up the backstretch, ran in pursuit four to five wide along the second turn, swung widest into the lane, bid at the furlong marker then finished evenly late. BEACH STORM sent to the early lead after a good beginning, lost command along the first turn then stalked the pace from the rail into the backstretch, chased while saving ground into the far turn, ran evenly while in pursuit into upper stretch and could not muster a final response. SMOKE STACK forwardly placed while outside of rivals approaching the first turn, was carried five to six wide along that bend, went up and disputed the pace into the backstretch run, pressed outside of MIDEVIL MAYHEM into the second turn, stubbornly battled into the stretch then tired in the final stages.
