Chart notes
LATIGO ELLIS broke alertly and assumed early command, set the pace to the turn, carved out quick fractions along the bend then met a rival's bid at the quarter pole, dug in and held sway to the furlong grounds, came under pressure from the oncoming runner-up late and lasted for the win at the wire. SIR RUCKUS chased the solid early pace from inside of rivals, angled three wide into upper stretch, dove back to the rail while closing fast into the final sixteenth, surged in the late stages and just missed for the win, while besting the rest. MOON SHINE TIME forwardly placed away from the start, tracked the solid pace from outside of runners heading to the turn, bid three to four wide at the quarter marker, battled into the stretch then could not keep pace with the top pair late and was a clear third. FINALLY AN EDDIE was bothered at the start and broke slowly, lacked early speed, saved ground to the quarter pole, angled out for the stretch drive and found his best stride late. AUSPICE chased the solid early pace from between runners, angled to the rail into the turn then was caught in tight and checked midway through the bend, chased from the rail into upper stretch then weakened late. JAMIE CAN'T DANCE broke in sharply at the start and bothered a neighboring rival, lacked early speed and was never a factor. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE START INVOLVING FINALLY AN EDDIE AND JAMIE CAN'T DANCE. THE STEWARDS RULED THOSE RUNNERS CAUSED THEIR OWN ISSUES AT THE START AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
