Chart notes
MISSISSIPPI MAN got forced outward at the start by JOURNEY and was at the rear of the field early, was patiently handled early, got bumped by VIA DEL CORSO near the seven-sixteenths then was set down, circled three wide through the turn, came four wide into the stretch and finished best under steady handling and intermittent urging to prevail. GOOD TO BE PRINCE hustled away inside, settled behind the dueling leaders while saving ground, launched a bid from the five-sixteenths pole, tipped out three wide into the stretch finished well, shifted in near the finish and was unable to hold off the winner. CARAMBASO broke outward at the start then rushed forward, briefly dueled with TAKEITAWAY then went clear on the turn, led to md-stretch then weakened late. TAKEITAWAY broke outward at the start and bothered JOURNEY, took the lead initially then dueled with CARAMBASO briefly, ceded the lead to that foe going into the turn then took up the chase but flattened out in the stretch. VIA DEL CORSO came away from the gate a little awkwardly then raced at the rear of the compact field not far off the pace, ran into a tight spot after passing the half-mile marker, came out a path and bumped into MISSISSIPPI MAN near the seven-sixteenths pole, got shuffled back and was stuck behind horses to the five-sixteenths marker, came four wide into the stretch and lacked a finish. JOURNEY had to check when TAKEITAWAY came over at the start, got settled then pressed three wide to the turn, struggled to keep pace late on the turn then tired in the stretch.
