PHILIPSBURG (IRE) showed good early speed, disputed the pace three wide into the turn, dueled to the quarter marker then vied for the lead between rivals into upper stretch, took command and led to the furlong grounds, could not match strides with the winner into the final sixteenth and was clear of the rest for the place. MYSTIC POWER broke a bit awkwardly and trailed early on, saved ground into the turn then trailed into upper stretch, advanced then shifted out approaching the final sixteenth, closed willingly late and got up in time for the show. SUPREMELY tracked the early pace while widest up the backstretch, advanced four wide into the turn and was well placed at the quarter pole, chased three wide into the stretch, was outkicked in the final sixteenth and just missed for third. CHI TOWN HUSTLER sent to contest the early pace from the inside, raced a bit in tight into the turn then took back, tracked the pace while in traffic nearing the quarter marker, chased two wide into upper stretch, could not find the needed late response, weakened in deep stretch, was unsaddled along the backstretch following the race and walked off.
