CORPORAL PAUL had good speed and was always up front, dueled with MY MAN BRANDON through the turn, had that rival get the jump into the stretch but kept on, gradually wore that one down and was up in the last jumps. HOLD MY HAT was in the middle of the early pace mix from the start, then dropped out near the half, was kept in a drive while racing inside through the turn, tipped out to the three path in the stretch, surged late and just missed. MY MAN BRANDON was reluctant to load, then got bumped by CLOSING AGENT at the break, rushed to join the early pace battle then put a head in front past the half-mile pole, held a slight lead through the turn while being pressed by CORPORAL PAUL, turned that foe back at the three-sixteenth pole then, still held the lead late but got short in the final yards and yielded to that resurgent foe in the shadow of the wire. BAYOU TIME broke well the was run into by OUR BODIE after the start, raced in the middle of the strung out field then put in a strong rally up the rail while flopping leads but ran out of time and came up just short of a minor award. CLOSING AGENT broke in and bumped into MY MAN BRANDON, then hustled into the early pace mix, was in chase mode through the turn then could not find a winning kick in the stretch run. HE'S READY TO WIN was hard to load, at the break was sent hard and contested the early pace about five wide, was unable to go on with the leading pair from the three-furlong pole and finished evenly in the stretch. OUR BODIE broke outward at the start and was broadsided by BAYOU TIME, had to regroup and spotted the field a head start, was one of the last into stride, toiled at the rear of the field through the early stages then passed a few tired ones in the stretch. ANACREON was hard to load, was briefly close after the break then dropped off the pace rushed up to join the leaders three to four wide on the turn then then flattened out in the stretch. CIEL was outrun from the break, was choppy-strided in the late stages and not involved in the outcome.
