DIOCLES broke sharply and tracked the leader into the first turn while racing one out from the rail, forced the issue from the outside of that rival in the run down the backstretch and through the final turn, and closed determinedly three wide in the drive to dispose of his pace rival late, and prove best. SOARINGFORTHESUN away alertly and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from the inside of DIOCLES in the run down the backside and through the final turn, and finished willingly one out from the rail in the drive to just miss. RUN RUDOLF away well and stalked the leaders in the run down the backstretch while racing one out from the rail, commenced his bid three wide entering the final turn, and drifted six wide in the lane while finishing with a late surge. PURSUE was off a step slow, and trailed the compact field into the backstretch while maintaining a stalking trip at the rail, rallied from along the inside through the final turn, but lacked the needed closing response in the lane when called upon.
