Chart notes
PLAYING CUPID settled while never far back in the early going, tracked the leading pair two to three wide heading to the half-mile marker, roused three to four wide into the second turn, loomed then took command into upper stretch, kicked clear at the furlong grounds, drew off into the final sixteenth and won as much the best. EGYPTIAN QUEST broke well and showed the way to the first turn, set a contested pace up the backstretch while off of the rail, shook free into the far turn then was overtaken into upper stretch, could not keep pace with the winner into the final furlong and stayed on well to be second best. THRACIAN allowed to settle in the early stages, trailed approaching the half-mile marker, improved position nearing the quarter pole then swung three wide into upper stretch, could not impact the top pair into the final sixteenth and kept on to earn the show honors. HAZARD BOY rated just off of the early pace and saved ground to the first turn, was well placed while saving ground up the backstretch, saved all of the ground to the second turn then came under a ride nearing the quarter pole, lacked a response into upper stretch then was outkicked in the late stages for the show. MR. MAC MIDNIGHT hustled away from the start, engaged with EGYPTIAN QUEST along the first turn and pressed that rival through modest fractions up the backstretch, lost position into the second turn and chased two wide heading to the quarter pole, could not keep pace into upper stretch and gave way through the lane.
