Chart notes
PLUNDER edged up three wide between rivals near the half, dropped in a bit and tracked the embattled leaders past the five sixteenths, eased out to bid between runners in upper stretch, gained a narrow advantage near mid stretch, dug in tenaciously inside runners through the final furlong and narrowly proved best. DICK BEST , bumped and pinched back soon after the break, regrouped and moved to a forward spot off the rail into the turn, stalked outside a rival mid turn, shifted out four wide for the drive, ranged up to threaten outside horses in mid stretch and kept on gamely while earning the place. BALADINE , forwardly placed four deep near the half, dropped in a path and bid outside the leader leaving the far turn, took over three wide into the stretch, was taken on from both sides inside the three sixteenths pole, fought on past mid stretch stretch then gave way grudgingly between foes. GOLD SWEEP , bumped at the break, was urged off the rail mid turn, came five wide for the drive and closed steadily outside horses. GOOD TO BE PRINCE had speed to the inside then rated off the leader past the five eighths, pulled and steadied off foes near the half, altered out leaving the three sixteenths to work between runners then lacked the needed finish. EXCELLENT EMPIRE drifted out at the break bumping a rival and causing a bit of a jam up, corrected and moved up past the five eighths, was taken up when trying to work through a tight spot between foes near the half, dropped back some then failed to generate a stretch rally. JOE THE TAILOR sped to the front, set the pace towards the inside, was joined leaving the far turn, contested the issue to the head of the lane then gave way. An objection by the rider of DICK BEST against the winner for alleged interference leaving the gate was not allowed.
