Chart notes
GARDEN OF WAR was quite content to let the stablemate set the pace while taking a tracking role outside down the backstretch, hounded the frontrunner around the turn, moved in boldly at the quarter pole, assumed command four wide at the top of the stretch and while kept to the task finished up strongly to have no challengers when crossing the finish line. GOLDEN TRUTH had a stalking role three deep in the early stages, made a sharp move three wide around runners two furlongs left to go, had a brief chance at the winner four wide turning for home, drifted inwards when switching leads at the furlong marker and ran on well to clearly be second best on this day. NAUGHTY FROSTY was between horses in midfield down the backside, offered a mild run with rivals on either side with five sixteenths to go, dueled for a small share in the two path at the top of the lane and won the battle in deep stretch for third money. LITTLE THONIO travelled on the rail in mid-division, was scrubbed on for more but could not keep up with the front two rivals around the bend, kept trying for a piece of the purse while on the fence straightening out for the drive, dug in between foes with a sixteenth to run but could not win the show battle in the final seventy yards. FIGHTING THE WARS cleared outside to the rail unopposed up top down the back straight, rolled along through the turn, was collared outside by the eventual winner with a quarter mile remaining, offered little resistance on the rail in upper stretch and folded on the fence at the sixteenth pole. GERALD was nudged on early trying to keep a forward rail position, trailed on the fence by the half, lost touch with the field running around the turn and cantered home down the lane across the wire.
