STEEN hustled from the outside, pressed HIGHSTAKES HUSTLER on the backstretch under a hold, quickened away with that one from the nine-sixteenths marker, gained the advantage past the quarter pole and drew off under steady handling and urging. NOT BEHAVIN was allowed to settle from the break, went unhurried through the first turn and was last at one point heading down the backstretch, started to run on leaving the seven-sixteenths marker, circled the field on the turn, carried the momentum into the stretch and outfinished all but the winner. SMARTY'S BACK went three wide on the first turn, advanced steadily down the backstretch, went after the leading pair on the turn, had trouble changing leads but kept on under steady handling, and just held third. HIGHSTAKES HUSTLER was first to the turn then set the pace with STEEN lapped to the outside, dug in when that foe tried to quicken away leaving the nine-sixteenths marker, dueled through the turn then gave way passing the quarter pole and tired in the stretch. FROSTY BLUE tracked between horses well off the early pace, was under a drive from the three furlong pole and was able to improve position in the stretch. TEQUILA N' SALT was off a step slow, tracked three wide to the far turn then lacked a rally. JUST NATE raced near the rear of the field through the early stages and had little to offer in the stretch. TOP OF THE WORLD was close up inside through the early stages, then lost ground on the far turn when the leading pair quickened away and was not a factor in the late stages. JAMESY'S EMPIRE lost the path at the break then was a bit rank going into the tirst turn, settled inside near the back after the start and was outrun.
