Chart notes
TOUCH THE SUN broke sharply and dueled for the lead from the outside of GOLDEN REGAL entering the first turn, continued to battle down the backstretch from the outside of that rival, swept to the lead entering the final turn, fended off a bid on the final turn from COUNTER CAT, and inched clear late. COUNTER CAT away alertly and tracked the leaders into the backstretch while racing one out from the rail, set sail three wide entering the final turn, and battled gamely two out from the rail in the drive to hold the place. CREATIVE UNION unhurried early while trailing the field into the backstretch, advanced smartly from along the inside midway down the backside, rallied smartly through the final turn to loom a danger entering the lane, and finished from along the rail in the drive in a solid debut. KRIS'S GOLD away well and stalked the early pace while saving ground at the rail in the run down the backside, rallied three wide entering the final turn, but needed more late when called upon. GOLDEN REGAL rushed up from along the rail to vie for the lead entering the first turn, set a pressured pace in the run to the final turn, was unable to match strides with TOUCH THE SUN entering the final turn, and weakened over the final furlong while not being persevered with late.
