Chart notes
STANFORD BAY away alertly and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from the inside of SET TO SHINE in the run down the backstretch, disposed of his pace rival midway through the final turn and quickly opened a clear lead, and was never threatened late while being kept to task. WHAT'S SHAKIN settled towards the back of the pack while racing one out from the rail entering the backstretch, remained well back in the run down the backside, rallied smartly three wide entering the final turn, and finished full of run four wide in the drive to prove second best. ROCKCLIFFE settled well off the early pace while racing two wide entering the backstretch, rallied one out from the rail. BIG UNION was fractious prior to the start, and settled well off the contested early pace while saving ground at the rail entering the backside, trailed the field into the final turn while mounting a three wide bid, and improved his position over the final furlong while unable to seriously threaten. SET TO SHINE was fractious prior to the start, but broke sharply and dueled for the lead from the outside of STANFORD NORTH entering the first turn, forced the issue two wide in the run down the backside and into the final turn, was unable to match strides with his pace rival leaving the turn, and faded in the late stages. FINDING WAYS was fractious prior to the start, but was away well and tracked the dueling leaders into the backstretch while racing out from the rail, rallied three wide entering the final turn, but weakened over the final furlong.
