Chart notes
PAY MY WAY settled off the contested early pace while saving ground at the rail entering the stretch the first time, continued to bide his time while saving ground entering the backstretch, advanced from along the rail midway down the backside to gain a striking position entering the final turn, rallied smartly from along the rail through the final turn, and closed with a rush from along the inside to get up in the final strides to prevail. DUPLICATION away alertly and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the stretch the first time, continued to set a pressured pace through the second turn and in the run down the backside, disposed of his pace rivals and assumed command approaching the final turn, held a clear lead into the lane, but just failed to last. BAK TO LIBERTY away well and stalked the contested early pace into the stretch the first time while racing one out from the rail, maintained his position through the second turn, gained ground three wide in the run to the final turn, rallied smartly two out from the rail through the turn, but finished evenly two wide in the drive to garner a share. BUCK'S FIZZ dueled for the lead two wide from between rivals entering the stretch the first time, continued to force the issue two wide through the second turn, dropped back in the run down the backside, re-mounted a bid two wide entering the final turn, and finished with late interest four wide in the drive. SLOOP JOHN B unhurried early while trailing the field into the stretch the first time, continued to bide his time well behind the field entering the backstretch, rallied four wide entering the final turn, but failed to make a serious late impact. BUTTONWOOD TREE broke sharply and pressed the pace three wide entering the stretch the first time, continued to force the issue from the outside of two rivals through the second turn, was unable to match strides with DUPLICATION entering the final turn, and weakened over the final furlong and wasn't persevered with in the late stages.
