Chart notes
CHARTER OAK was unhurried and settled in the back of the pack, continued patiently ridden around the turn, shifted out five wide entering the head of the lane, came under right handed pressure, responded gamely, kicked in along the outside and got up in final strides. GOLDEN LUNA sped to the lead shortly after the start, raced under pressure in early stages, held firm over close running pursuers late on the turn, came two wide into the upper stretch, vied with rail running MEDICINE TAIL at the furlong marker, dug in gamely, shook free, ran on determinedly and got caught in final stride. AXEL STEEL was off slow at the start, was ridden along off the early pace, ranged up four to five wide late on the turn, sustained bid into the upper stretch, raced in striking distance into late stages but lacked closing kick. MEDICINE TAIL was allowed to settle off the top flight in the early going, edged closer along the rail past the quarter pole, advanced along the rail to engage GOLDEN LUNA for the lead a furlong out, failed to match strides shortly after, yielded and got nipped for show. BIYOMBO prompted the early pace, remained up close three wide around the turn, ran on into the upper stretch then evened out nearing the furlong marker. ADIOS GARY was forwardly placed into the turn, continued in close contention two wide going by the quarter pole, sustained bid into the upper stretch then flattened out.
