AVE'S IN COMMAND away alertly and battled for the lead from the outside of FOREIGN PROTOCOL entering the first turn, continued to force the issue from the outside of that foe in the run down the backside and through the final turn, disposed of his pace rival leaving the turn to take control, and held BIG UNION safely at bay late to prove best. BIG UNION was quite fractious prior to the start, and settled at the back of the pack while racing one out from the rail entering the backstretch, began to edge closer to the leaders in the run to the final turn, rallied three wide through the turn, tipped four wide leaving the turn, and closed determinedly three wide in the drive to prove second best. KNOPFLER away well, and tracked the leaders into the backstretch while saving ground along the rail, rallied smartly two wide through the final turn, shifted three wide leaving the turn, and finished one out from the rail in the drive in an even effort. FOREIGN PROTOCOL broke sharply and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from the inside of AVE'S IN COMMAND in the run down the backside and through the final turn, was unable to match strides with his pace rival entering the lane, and weakened in the stretch drive.
