OVERLY FAST away well and tracked the dueling leaders into the stretch the first time while racing one out from the rail, maintained his position through the second turn and in the run down the backside, rallied smartly three wide through final turn, swept to the lead entering the stretch and quickly drew clear as much the best. SLOOP JOHN B away alertly and dueled for the lead from the outside of TEX HANLEY entering the stretch the first time, continued to force the issue two wide through the second turn and into the backside, assumed command in the run to the final turn, battled through the final turn from the inside of OVERLY FAST, was unable to keep tabs on that rival entering the lane, but finished willingly from along the inside in the lane to prove second best. TEX HANLEY broke sharply and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from along the rail through the stretch the first time and through the second turn, struggled to match strides with his pace rival in the run to the final turn, saved ground through the turn, and finished three wide in the lane to garner a share. JERSEYS IMAGE settled at the back of the pack while racing three wide into the lane the first time, continued to race well off the early pace through the second turn and in the run down the backstretch, rallied three wide through the final turn, and finished four wide in the drive while unable to make a late impact. THERE GOES MY HERO settled well off the contested early pace while racing one out from the rail through the stretch the first time, continued to bide his time near the back of the pack in the run down the backstretch, rallied from just off the rail entering the final turn, but lacked the needed closing response when called upon.
