PUBLIUS settled mid-pack two deep through the early stages, made a strong forward move on the far turn, dueled with FUNNYFLAME for the length of the stretch, and won the bob at the finish. FUNNYFLAME was always prominent, tracked three wide down the backstretch, pulled even with the leaders heading into the turn then went on went on from the middle of the far turn to duel with BADDA BING (FR) late on the turn and into the stretch got the best of that one then dueled wtih PUBLIUS down the stretch, battled gamely to the wire but came up short. BADDA BING (FR) went three wide into the first turn while a bit rank, pulled to be up with the leaders going down the backstretch, dueled briefly with FUNNYFLAME from the middle of the turn to upper stretch, then gave way. QUATERNION settled inside with the second flight, tipped out to the two path mid-way on the turn and was mildly gaining in the stretch. ALWAYS ABOVE last into the first turn, lagged at the back of the field to the far turn, swung five wide into the stretch and finished with some interest but lacked punch. SOUTH SIDE raced near the back, came under a drive from the three-furlong pole, and finished with mild interest. STEEN came away with the early lead then came under steady pressure from AMERICAN CITY down the backstretch, steadied just past the three furlong pole, lost momentum and was unable to recover. LITTLE ROCKY raced close up inside to the far turn, then struggled to keep up late. AMERICAN CITY showed good early speed, pressed STEEN down the backstretch, then went on when that foe dropped out near the three-furlong pole, gave way before the quarter pole, and had nothing left for the stretch run, was eased up before the wire.
