RONDELITO was off a step slow and tracked the leaders through the stretch the first time while under snug restraint, tipped three wide entering the backstretch, and rushed to the lead midway to the final turn and opened a clear advantage into the final turn, and finished from along the inside in the drive, to fend off a late surge by ACCIDENTAL GENIUS to prevail. ACCIDENTAL GENIUS settled at the back of the compact field while racing one out from the rail entering the stretch the first time, continued to bide his time at the back of the pack in the run down the backside, rallied along the inside entering the final turn, split rivals leaving the turn, and closed with a rush two out from the rail in the drive to prove easily second best in a solid effort. KYALAM away alertly and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the stretch the first time, continued to set a pressured pace from the inside of MOUNT DOOM through the second turn, was quickly overtaken midway down the backside, rallied along the rail through the final turn, but weakened in the late going. MOUNT DOOM broke sharply and dueled for the lead entering the stretch the first time from the outside of KYALAM, continued that battle through the second turn, was quickly overtaken in the run to the final turn, rallied three wide into the turn, but was outfinished in the late stages.
