Chart notes
TOGA TWIST broke in at the start under hustling, chased six paths off the inside down the backstretch advancing strongly to engage VALENTINE CRUSADER in head to head combat with half a mile to run, tucked to the two path and dueled with that rival through the turn shaking away as a pair from the rest of the field, swung five wide into upper stretch, came in slightly straightened away switching leads and brushed his main rival, got herded out by that foe three paths from the three-sixteenths to the eighth pole, came under a right handed crop and came back inwards bumping VALENTINE CRUSADER lightly a sixteenth out and carrying him in a path and then again near the finish and gamely prevailed on the wire. VALENTINE CRUSADER coaxed from the gate, raced five wide in closest aim of the early leader before taking over from that rival near the half mile pole and was immediately engaged by the top one at that station, tucked inside and dueled through the turn widening away from the rest as a pair, swung four wide into upper stretch floating his main danger five wide, had that rival come in straightened away and was brushed, came under a left handed crop and herded TOGA TWIST out three paths from the three-sixteenths to the eighth pole, dug in as that rival resisted the continued outwards float and got bumped when TOGA TWIST came in a sixteenth from home, fought game nose to nose to the finish getting bumped again steps from the wire and just got bested on the line. MAX MONEY four then three wide in pursuit, came under coaxing at the seven-sixteenths, angled in to take the inside route into upper stretch, proved no match for the top pair while running on to secure the show honors. NATURAL SHOOTER hustled from the start, chased just off the inside and then along the inside under encouragement from the seven-sixteenths, angled five wide into upper stretch, kept on to the finish. THE OBLITERATOR chased six to seven paths off the inside down the backstretch and then four wide through the turn under urging from the seven-sixteenths, went seven wide into upper stretch and kept on to the finish. DINNER ROYALE hustled from the gate, showed the way just off the inside early on until overhauled near the half mile pole as the top two rivals engaged in a duel, chased those rivals along the inside through the turn under a ride from the three-eighths marker, spun two to three wide for home and tired. CHUMMERS brushed the near side stall at the start, chased three then two wide under urging from three furlongs out, angled four to five wide for home and faltered in the stretch. SCULCOS FOLLY chased along the inside and then just off the inside under a ride from midway on the turn, spun three wide into upper stretch, trailed throughout.
