Z STAR was hustled up the rail into the early pace mix from the start, was overtaken by TENACIOUS SPIRIT midway through the turn, then came back on and reclaimed the lead in upper stretch, kept on gamely under steady handling, and was fully extended to prevail. CLASSICAL KNIGHT tracked close up through the early stages the lost some ground through the turn, kept to the two path, was not making much of an impact, then found best stride inside the final sixteenths, was slowly gaining on the eventual winner, but ran out of time. COUNTRY DEALS tracked the pace battle from the inside, tipped out three wide into the stretch, and finished up well to gain the third spot. ONE GRAND SLAM setlled two deep just off the pace battle, kept to the inside through the turn, was finishing willingly along the rail, and appeared to have aim at second then lost the inside path, steadied in the final yards, and lost position. R T'S CAJUN was allowed to settle well back in the field through the early stages, swung six or seven wide into the stretch and produced a mild rally to improve. TENACIOUS SPIRIT reluctant to load, hustled forward from the break, pressed three-wide, then put a head in front passing the three-furlong pole, then got rubber-legged in mid-stretch and shortened strides. MIDNIGHT STREAK void of speed, dropped over to the rail, chased the field to the turn, kept to the inside, and was mildly gaining late. ANALITICO tracked close up four wide to the turn, came under a ride passing the three-furlong pole, then had nothing to offer in the stretch run. CADILLAC BO vied between horses early, dropped off the pace passing the seven-sixteenths pole and had no late respose. STEVE'S TROUBLE was outpaced early, raced three to four wide early, bid six wide into the stretch and could not make an impact in the late stages. OUR SHINING STAR chased three wide mid-pack, came under a ride into the turn, and tired. LIKE CLOCKWORK broke well but unable to join the early pace, retreated steadily after a quarter mile, and had nothing left in the stretch.
