Chart notes
HE'S JUST LUCKY sent to the front from the outside post, pressed the pace three deep to the turn, then dueled with ATRAS into the turn to the stretch, went well clear in upper stretch and held clear while being geared down the wire. AMERICAN KNOW HOW tracked the pace duel on the rail, launched a bid after passing the three-furlong pole, was no match for the winner in the final furlong but was well clear of the next horse. PERRY COUNTY stumbled coming out of the gate, raced wide down the backstretch and through the turn, put in a good late run down the stretch to be along for third while never a serious threat to the top pair. BIG CHOPPER off a step slowly, was well back through the early stages, got an inside trip through the turn, and finished up well up the rail. J L PAC MAN away well, briefly had the lead on the inside of the trio battling for the early lead, dropped off the pace at the three-furlong pole, and further weakened in the stretch. ATRAS broke well then vied between horses contesting the early lead, pulled away from the rest with HE'S JUST LUCKY through the turn, then could not go on with that rival in the stretch and tired. BLACK SWORD pushed for a forward position, raced mid-pack, lacked a rally. MATZOH BALL ducked out at the start, was under pressure early to keep pace, then was outrun in the latter stages.
