Chart notes
BARON OF THE NILE missed the break and was the distant trailer early, then moved up inside through the turn, swung five wide into the stretch, and produced a bold rally under steady handling and was up in time. HANDSOME HAROLD had good speed from the break, ceded the front then pressed the pace inside, slipped through an opening along the rail into the stretch, finished up well despite racing on the left lead, led in the final yards but was nipped at the wire. HOLY BAYOU broke sharply and made the lead from the outside with several in close attendance early, went a length clear through the turn while well handled, responded when put to a challenge by HANDSOME HAROLD on the inside turning for home, and weakened late. BIND FAITH pressed four wide into the turn, loomed boldly at the quarter pole under a stiff drive, could not quite find the winning late kick and was spinning wheels on the wrong lead in the late stages. WILLIAM GUSTAVO outpaced early, dropped down to the two path for the run through the turn, kept to task and was able to improve in the final yards. FLASHY LOVER raced mid-pack, launched a mild bid midway through the turn, and finished evenly. SHUT UP MAN lost path out of the gate, settled three to four wide in the back half of the field, bid six wide into the stretch and ran on some late. HALF AGAIN put forth an even effort mid-pack throughout, but was never a factor. CIGAR VAN raced inside mid-pack, moved up to challenge approaching the quarter pole but was unable to sustain the bid and was outfinished in the stretch run. SAMMY DANSEUR JR. raced six wide down the backstretch and through the turn, came eight or nine wide into the stretch and lacked a rally. EMPIRE KID dueled through the early stages, gave way before the quarter pole, then tired in the stretch.
