Chart notes
WHISKEY ROW broke outwards on the break, was loose on the lead setting a soft pace into the backstretch, had company to his outside by the half, disposed of the early speed rival to open up again in midturn and had plenty in reserve for the drive to coast home for the gate to wire win. PET SOUNDS had a slow beginning to see the field leaving the chute, was hustled inside runners on the fence down the backside, had to be checked in tight coming up to the frontrunner at the five eighths pole, settled inside in the second tier through the turn, shifted out at the quarter pole while scrubbed for more and in the three path down the lane chased the winner home but to no avail. DIVA'S GHOST broke in at the start, was then reined back early to co-trail on the inside, shifted out at the half mile pole, started to make a move circling three wide around a couple of runners commencing at the three furlong marker, angled to the four path in upper stretch and found another gear late to get up on the outside in the last few jumps to win the three way battle for the show money. BENLION was unhurried to co-trail on the outside along the backside, could not keep up to horses who were making a run at the three eighths marker, figured things out in upper stretch finding his best stride late on the fence, had to angle off the tiring runner in the three path at the seventy yard marker, dueled for the show award late but settled on the fringes in the end. GUARD OF HONOUR forced the pace on the outside with a half mile remaining, could not keep up to the winner by midturn, fought on inside for the runners up share at the top of the lane but faded inside rivals in deep stretch to lose a few positions in the final seventy yards. HELANA travelled on the outside of another in mid-pack, came under a ride between foes in the two path trying to hold position midway around the bend, had little left for the stretch drive and could not factor in the late running.
