Chart notes
GALLO DE FUEGO tracked the pace on the outside, dropped back near the nine-sixteenths pole, advanced into the turn, made a bid in the three path midway through that bend, took the lead in the four path into upper stretch, battled outside of the runner-up into the final furlong, shook clear under a left-handed crop outside the sixteenth-pole, was given a final pop of the crop into the final sixteenth then was placed under a hand-ride to the finish while much the best. DARK DEVIL bumped soundly with a rival at the start, went to the front and led early, lost the lead near the eleven-sixteenths pole, dropped back nearing the five-eighths pole then chased the new leader, made a bid in the two path on the turn, turned into the stretch under the crop, battled inside of the winner under a drive into the final furlong and proved no match while clear for the place. DEW settled off the pace, drafted behind horses while moving from the inside to the three path on the turn, was asked late on that bend, swung out to the five path into the stretch, pursued the top two while remaining on his inside lead in the drive and weakened but was clear for the show. STANLEY CAT moved up to get the lead near the eleven-sixteenths pole then went clear before the five-eighths pole, was challenged while inside on the turn, lost the advantage into upper stretch and tired. MUNSON settled off the pace then dropped back, went around the turn in the two then three path, spun into the stretch in the four path then moved further out and failed to threaten. HOLY DANCER bumped soundly with a rival at the start and was off a step slow, dropped well behind the rest of the field under urging, saved ground on the turn and trailed throughout.
