Chart notes
THE GREAT OZ hounded the pacesetter in hand down the backstretch, inched up to seize control outside with a quarter mile from the prize under a confident ride, shifted out to the three path putting away the early speed foe by the eighth pole and under a bust ride held safe for the win at the finish line. PAT'S GAMBLE had an ideal spot isolated behind the contest duo along the backside, shifted out in midturn, closed in on the lead twosome by the quarter pole, posed the main opposition four wide on the outside in upper stretch, tried in vain but could not get to the winner in the final furlong. POSEIDON STEEL broke a touch slow on the start, tracked in midfield inside by the half, was roused for more making little headway on the bend, angled three wide for the stretch run and came with a good late charge in the two path between foes to secure the show award at the finish line. HIGHLAND LIFE had a slim lead inside down the backstretch, dueled stubbornly on the rail through the turn, was collared outside by the winner with two furlongs to go, dug back in inside until the furlong pole giving way to the front pair and faded slightly inside rivals late to just get caught for the show money at the wire. PRICELESS WILL settled in mid-division on the outside, could not improve outside runners in the two path around the oval, angled four wide at the top of the lane and was gaining steadily outside for the third money but could not get there in time. MOON LANDING bobbled slightly on the break, had a stalking position ahead of one runner down the back straight, made no movement inside foes around the bend, shifted to the three path straightening for home and was gaining gradually on rivals late trying to get up for the show money. JAMIESTA broke with the field but was void of early foot lagging well behind midway along the backstretch, closed the gap on rivals still at the rear through the turn, angled out five wide for the drive but had little impact in the run to the wire.
