Chart notes
MAD DOG N JOE was roused taking the lead on the rail into the first turn, galloped along unopposed setting an even tempo along the backside, was collared outside by the five sixteenths pole, under a well rationed ride had more to spurt away again in upper stretch and held safe under a busy ride at the finish line. SOULMATE travelled four wide into the first turn neck bowed keeping a close eye on the frontrunner, moved in closer measuring the pacesetter down the backstretch, seized control midway on the far turn but had no answer when the winner counterpunched on the rail turning for home and chased in vain to the wire to be second best. MEDIA SENSATION settled on the outside in mid-pack, edged closer to the lead pair by the half, sat behind the front duo with a quarter mile to go in the thick of things and in the two path finished up one paced to be a clear but non threatening third in the end. SAILOR'S PASSION co-trailed on the inside in the early parts of the race, rallied smartly between foes at the three furlong pole, continued to keep on trying in the three path at the top of the stretch finding his best stride late and got up for a minor placing in the end. GOOD SIN was nestled on the rail in midfield, made little progression on the last bend when scrubbed on for more at the three furlong pole, shifted in to the two path straightening out for home but could not get involved driving to the wire. NONNO'S LITTLE BOY co-trailed on the outside in the early stages, tried to make a run going three wide around foes at the three eighths marker but was unable to circle around rivals and while five wide for the drive could not factor in the stretch running. HEMLO GOLD was fanned out five wide in the mix up top into the initial turn, watched the lead two while going three deep on the outside down the back straight, retreated three wide outside on the far turn at the quarter pole and in the five path turning for home emptied out.
