Chart notes
TOUR THE CITY was moving quite comfortably hounding the pace outside on the first of two turns, continued to shadow the leader outside down the backstretch under confident handling, was cruising around the last turn going head-to-head outside for the front but was really waiting for the cue to go, opened up quickly under mild urging taking control at the furlong marker and won going away at the wire. LOST STAR was allowed to settle into a gallop lagging behind the field in the early parts of the race, made a sharp move swooping around horses four wide at the quarter pole, found his best stride late widest in the six path down the stretch and got up in the final few jumps outside for the second position. HUMAN DESIRE battled inside for the lead on the first turn, narrowly had the advantage inside down the back straight, was hard ridden clinging onto the lead saving ground through the last bend, could not keep up to the winner by the eighth pole and just lost holding on for the place share inside in the late running. LONNY'S GAMBLE sat alone in midfield initially, kept pace running evenly making no movement along the backside, edged up the rail midway around the final oval, kept coming on three wide in upper stretch, shifted inwards to the fence with seventy yards from the prize, was fighting to the wire to get the show money but settled on being a fringe player in the end. AMERICAN DECISION had a stalking trip ahead of one rival into the first bend, continued down the backstretch making little progression, could not quicken with others in the two path between foes with five sixteenths to go and only managed to pass a weary rival inside while in the three path by mid-stretch. SPRUNG LOOSE was fractious in the stall prior to the start, broke well to have an ideal spot isolated behind the engaged duo in the early stages, was asked for more run to go after the lead pair with five sixteenths to go, offered little response on the far turn and tired four wide in upper stretch.
