Chart notes
PERRY COUNTY seized the early lead with an aggressive push from the gate, had company in the form of RUNNIN MUNNIN while well clear of the rest, was left alone to dictate fractions and set a moderate pace, left the rival behind approaching the quarter pole then dug in under a challenge from SABI in the stretch but hand plenty in reserve to hold safe to the wire. SABI was being held up near the rear of the field, then under a ride from the half, advanced up the rail through the far turn, had aim at PERRY COUNTY on the lead but faltered late in the stretch and could not close the deal. MR. FAVERSHAM unhurried at the back through the early running, made a run through the far turn under steady urging and kept on well to grab the third prize. RUNNIN MUNNIN stalked PERRY COUNTY through the early stages, weakened on the far turn and was not a factor in the stretch. PROWLING TIGER secured inside position racing mid-pack for the first half-mile, came under pressure three wide on the far turn but lacked a response. FORTUITY raced two-wide in the middle of the pack, made a mild bid under a drive from the three-furlong pole then went flat in the stretch. TREATY settled well behind two-deep and never got an inside trip through the far turn but had nothing to offer. PUBLIUS chased the top pair to the far turn, struggled to keep pace approaching the three-furlong pole and had nothing left in the stretch.
