Chart notes
TEX HANLEY rushed to the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, controlled the pace in the run down the backside, battled for the lead from the inside of QUAGMIRE through the final turn, and drew clear in the lane to prove too good. BARNEY GOOGLE broke sharply, but was allowed to settle at the back of the pack entering the backstretch, launched his bid one out from the rail entering the final turn, and closed steadily one out from the rail in deep stretch to get up for the place in the closing strides. QUAGMIRE away alertly and tracked the pacesetter into the backstretch while racing one out from the rail, forced the issue two wide through the final turn, and into the lane, but was unable to match strides with TEX HANLEY in the drive and just failed to hold the place. BECKETT'S BEST away well and stalked the leader into the backside while saving ground at the rail, advanced from along the inside midway down the backstretch to loom a threat entering the final turn, saved ground through the turn while awaiting room, and finished three wide in the drive to just miss the place. GROOVIN' IS BAK stalked the leaders into the backstretch while racing one out from the rail, commenced his bid two wide entering the final turn, but was outfinished late while finishing four wide in the drive.
